  • Makenzie and the Monsters @ Bay 151

    C A Hoffman

    language (, Sept. 13, 2010)
A young girl (Makenzie) is jaded by her common, mundane life. So drained of excitement was her summer life in Troy, Ohio that when one day chance presented her with an exciting opportunity, she was not about to refuse. Entering her father’s lab she fiddles with one of his science experiments. Immediately and to her immense regret the experiment began to manifest itself and Makenzie was sucked through a swirling vortex of energy. In a distant world and, perhaps even a distant time, Makenzie lands upon the hard rock floor of a cave. What our young friend would soon realize is that the experiment changed her as the harshness of the metals and chemicals she used were fused to her spinal cord and brain. With mere thoughts, Makenzie could now transform herself into a very large panther with glowing silvery orbs for eyes and purple and black fur. With her new found treant friend (Urek) and her new found ability she must battle her way off the spaceship in which she finds herself now trapped upon. She must make new friends during her journey if she is ever to defeat the evil race of Molkin (mole creatures) and she must use every ounce of her incredible intellect if she is to thwart the evil plan of the Molkin Leader, Solor. She must do these things if she is ever to return home to the existence that she now misses and cherishes.

  • Hiss: A Story about Love, Trust and Growing Up

    C. J. Hoffman

    Paperback (AuthorHouse, Jan. 6, 2009)
?Hiss? is a story that will take you on a roller coaster ride of imagination and emotion. You and your child will experience excitement, comfort, uneasiness, and back to comfort again, in a few short pages. The use of imagination is stressed in this book since the only pictures that you ever see are of the environment that surrounds Hiss? home. You never see Hiss or his mommy. You only have to read about them to experience their emotions as they live their daily lives. Although Hiss and his mommy are described in loose detail in book, there is much left to the imagination of the child. Discussion of some elements of the book may be initiated by the child and the reader will find that he or she will become part of this book. Describing an Emu or how fangs (teeth) grow in, can forge a bond between child and reader, and may be cause for discussion in the future. Enjoy this book to the fullest that your imagination can take you and your child.
